After a traumatic event during his residence, James Hayman (Namir Smallwood), a young medicine student, will move to a rural hospital for a fresh start. While observing that James is struggling and has difficulty in communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran phase and screen actor Michael Potts) suggests that he takes a class that focuses on the bed and facilitates deeper relationships with patients. James’ past demons begin with him when he is consumed by a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan’s case, which never always always always always) with mysterious symptoms. His grasping into the reality begins to slip as his disturbing nightmares, anxiety burning speculation and physical injuries collide with the harsh reality of the world of medicine.
